Two-Part Christmas Party

Part One: Some close friends of ours had a great Christmas party last night. It began at 5 with kids included. They made it special for the kids and had their dining room table set up just for them. A place card with each of the kid's name stuck out of a pine cone and snowman shaped chicken nuggets, carrot sticks and fruit was served. There were 9 kids ages 3 and under all around the table and with the help of a few boosters (seat belt included) they all sat there for over 20 minutes quite civilized and enjoyed their meal....very cute. Afterwards, my friend played Christmas carols on the piano and Santa knocked at the door bringing a small gift for each of the kids. Hayden waited patiently on my lap while Santa called other children's names to hand them their gift. But, he came quietly saying out loud, 'Hayden' as if to remind Santa to call him next. Then, we all went home and put the kids to bed and had babysitters arrive....

Part Two: We returned to our friends house and carried on into the evening enjoying eggnog (not me), wine (not me again) and desserts (me!). But, most of all, we enjoyed conversation uninterrupted by little ones.

Hayden couldn't wait to open the gift so rather then risk being told to wait by returning to my sit on my lap, he ran into the kitchen and tore into the paper.

After opening the gift, Hayden went back up to Santa thanking him and asking for more cars.
