More Than Planned!

Earlier this month Hayden's preschool class was studying transportation. The teachers scheduled a field trip to ride the Riverline (a small, local commuter train that runs from Philly up to Trenton with dozens of stops in between). We had about a 25 minute ride and at our destination there was a small bakery across the street from the train station where we enjoyed a treat.
During our ride back to where we parked, the train remained stopped a the station just before our stop. After about a 10 minute wait, they announced that there was a car accident up ahead on the tracks so it could go no further.
Thankfully, our stop was just under a mile and the weather was lovely so we walked! Unfortunately, one of the car passengers involved in the accident (the driver, who had tried to 'beat' the train and was instead hit by it) was injured but the two others walked away. We saw fire trucks, ambulances, police cars and tow trucks! So while we would have much preferred seeing all the emergency vehicles under other circumstances, our transportation field trip was more than planned.
