Sand & Sun!

We just returned from a wonderful trip at our favorite Jersey shore, Stone Harbor. For the third summer, we shared a beach house with my parents and my sister and her family. We are so fond of parking the car to unload when we arrive and then relying on walking or biking to the beach or town.
Nearly every morning, we'd have a long bike 'train' to town to get fresh donuts from the bakery.  It is a bike friendly area with a bike lane in place.

Our carefree days were spent getting sandy at the beach or swimming in the pool in back of the rental house.  Hayden LOVED jumping around in the ocean (only up to his knees) and even gave boogie boarding a try.  He had a constant grin on his face!  Logan, who loves the swimming pool, did not like the ocean and did not like mommy or daddy liking the ocean.  He didn't mind the sand, but except for digging here and there, he didn't get much entertainment from it either.  Logan favorite beach activity, paddle ball!

As tradition, we spend an evening at Wildwood boardwalk which is an easy 20 minutes away.  The kids love the rides, lights and excitement!  This year, Logan and Julia were able to go on a few rides.  Julia was certainly more daring then Logan but they both shared many rides too!

Hayden was transformed into Batman!

Logan LOVED 'driving' the red truck.  His grin will be imprinted in my memory forever--pure, pure joy!  As he'd go around the track he'd shout out his window, 'hi mommy!'

My mom planned a surprise birthday celebration for Hayden who turns 5 in early July.  With dinosaurs on the cake and generous presents from MiMi/PopPop and cousins, he was a delighted little boy!

We had 3 wonderful dads with us on Father's Day, my dad, Ryan and Sheldon!

Logan became quite fond of Emma who he'd request to read him a story each night.

Some minor setbacks during the two weeks included: a trip to Urgent Care with Logan as a result of discovering a large lump in his neck. Turned out, despite not having a running nose or cold symptoms, he had two ear infections! (he was getting two molars in?)  Secondly, Ryan twisted his back, I mean...injured his back after heroically helping a beached dolphin back to deeper waters, resulting in a trip to the E.R. for muscle relaxers and pain meds.  Lastly, assuming due to the antibiotics, Logan had a messy diaper in the pool in which the diaper did not successfully contain resulting in 'shocking' the pool and shutting it down for 3 days.  But, I guess it's fair to pay a price for paradise!
