Notice the tongue sticking out: immense concentration!
Go HAYDEN!
I just scored my first goal in a game!
Hayden is playing on a soccer team for the first time. Unfortunately, all the practices were rained out as we had several weeks of dreary, wet weather. This meant, that the first time his team got together was for a game! Hayden's team is dark blue. 4 children per team are on the field at a time but they split both Hayden's team and the opposing team in half to play on two fields. Therefore, they all play the entire game which is four 8 minute quarters with a snack break during the half.
I have to say, this has been SO much fun! Ryan takes a break from studying and we bring 3 chairs (one for Logan) to watch the game. It fills our hearts with immense joy to watch Hayden on the field. Hayden scored a goal during the first game. He immediately turned to us and his face swelled with pride; his smile was priceless and moved me to tears. All evening he was telling us how much fun he had playing soccer and how he scored his first goal. He'll also comment how he is playing 'real soccer with only one ball' on the field. (Note: during the second game he scored a goal again, only for the other team--often they get confused as to which direction they should be going!)
His good friend Mia (who lives across the street) is also on the team. At times he'll be running towards the ball and pass Mia, stopping to smile at her. It can be a comical event as well.
Logan gets a chance to practice before the game and during the breaks. We all get excited on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Looking forward to all our future sporting events with the boys!
