We celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary on Friday, October 9th. Hard to believe 5 years have passed already. During the last 5 years Ryan got commissioned and we were blessed with two boys! With these changes came busier lives which is why we SO appreciated my parents watching the boys for the weekend freeing us up to get away! We chose to go to Lancaster, PA. We didn't want to spend much of 'our' time traveling and it is a location we both were interested in seeing. It was the perfect spot! Scenic & low key.
My parents arrived on Friday and we left Saturday morning. We hit a fresh market (with many Amish goods...also some German!), shops, breweries, toured an Amish house, took a scenic car ride, discovered a red covered bridge built in the 1800's and visited a Harvest Festival at Landis Valley (a civil war 'village'). We enjoyed the luxury of not being tethered to naps and feedings, WAITING for a table at a restaurant without pulling out crayons and books to help entertain the kids. And most of all, we enjoyed talking to one another without the distraction of the boys. Don't me wrong, we did miss the boys but it was a special weekend which we are extremely grateful for!
