December 30th we celebrated Ryan's 33rd birthday! I met Ryan when he as 23 and for as amazing as he was then, 33 looks even better on him!!!
It was wonderful because he had the day off and was home. Our day started with a breakfast I made for him: hashbrowns, scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast (from which Logan reached for his plate after eating his own portion). We were blessed with some mild temps (around 50 degrees) and were able to play outside with the boys in the afternoon.
While daddy was distracted, Hayden helped me make the birthday cake, pineapple upside down cake. We learned that Hayden cannot keep a secret or a surprise. He whispered to Ryan, "We're going to make your cake, shhh!" As if whispering it to him kept the secret! ;) He also promptly gave him his homemade birthday card after finishing it the last crayon stroke.
After dinner Hayden helped distribute the party hats and led us in Happy Birthday! Both boys blew the candles out with daddy. I think Hayden was disappointed to learn that when you get 'old' you don't have a birthday party as he kept asking us who is coming over! It was a quiet but fun evening.
