Turns out a squirrel discovered it. He kept climbing part way up the tree and leaping onto the rope. After it would swing a bit he would jump down and repeat.

Squirreling Around
Where I sit at the computer I have a clear view of the backyard and the rope swing that hangs from a sturdy oak branch. Recently, I noticed it swinging in a quick fashion. I quickly glanced around to count heads. Yep. All three boys were accounted for indoors.
Turns out a squirrel discovered it. He kept climbing part way up the tree and leaping onto the rope. After it would swing a bit he would jump down and repeat.
