I can't believe this is our 4th year doing something with Hayden. Has he really been around that long?! Time is traveling so quickly.
Anyway, this is the fourth winter we've done swim lessons with him at the YMCA. This time it is a big deal because it is the first time we do not accompany him in the water. He has a small floatation device on his back. The first winter, when he was 6 months old, he was in the Shrimp class. Not he is a Pike.
Hayden has never been timid of the water and really enjoys swimming. We are excited for him to learn some more technical skills. We want both boys to learn how to swim, for safety, not necessary as a competitive sport, unless they wish.
We signed Logan up this year too. He HATES it! The first week I went in the water with him and he became hysterical immediately after entering the water. After 5 minutes of no improvement, I took him out and we watched for a bit. He did calm down quickly once we got out. The next week Ryan went in with him and the same thing. We will just try again next winter or hope that over the summer he gets more comfortable. Saturday mornings, the Y pool is packed with classes at every corner. It is hot and noisy. We are learning that Logan is more timid than Hayden especially when there is a lot of commotion. For now, we will all enjoy watching Hayden! A little sad to not see Ryan sitting by his side...he's growing up!
