Crayola Factory & Canal Museum

Ryan's unit had a down day during the week so we decided to take the boys to the Crayola Factory in Easton, PA. It turned out to be a two hour drive, a little further than we anticipated, but thankfully, both boys are good car travelers (and nobody got car sick).
The museum has 3 floors of fun! The first floor has every crayola product out at different stations for the kids to use. I didn't even know Crayola had all these products! We also watched a demonstration of how crayons are made.
The top two floors are actually a Canal Museum that is attached. This was perhaps my favorite! (maybe it is just the educator in me) In one room, Hayden received a boat and a quick tutorial on how the lock system was used to transport cargo on boats along a canal. Then, Hayden could put his boat in the water and navigate it through a series of locks. At one point, he received some extra cargo for his boat.
Another station demonstrated how water is displaced with a heavy load. Another station had three 32 lb. barrels each on a different rope/pulley system.
Lastly, there was a room full of building materials.

Hayden said he liked it but it was too far away so he doesn't want to go back.
