After a lazy morning we took the boys to Wegerzyn Garden Park in Dayton. The website boasted of a Children's Discovery Center and it did not disappoint! After a rainy spring and hot summer, we've been squeezing in parks and picnics multiple times a week to make up for what the previous seasons couldn't host. The boys were a bit dismayed on the car ride to learn that swings, slides and other climbing structures didn't await them after the 25 minute journey. They were not disappointed either as Hayden said it best, "I want to go back 100 times." With Owen in the Bjorn, we initially wandered the garden grounds (well, the boys were running as their excitement increased with each discovery). We were greeted by a large structure, complete with doorways, windows and various 'rooms' completely made out of branches twisted and turning over one another--completed by an artist. The boys had a blast zigzagging through this wooden palace.
Owen, who loves to snuggle close, was blissfully content with daddy.
Hayden took a picture of us.
Love this picture
After exploring, we entered:
The boys looked for fossils:
Pumped water into a watering can to then use to water flowers/plants. Logan took this job quite seriously. :)
They also explored a cave full of bats (plastic) and bat facts, looked in a pond for frogs, played at a large sand table and created music with outdoor instruments. (all not pictured, sorry)
It will be remembered as a favorite family day!
