When we first moved to Ohio, just three doors down from us was a home that had been rented out for years. It appeared a bit cold and slightly unkept. Not long after we arrived, the renters moved out and a for sale sign appeared on the lawn. Several months later, the sign was removed and a new family moved in. Stephanie, Stephen and their son Adam whose birthday falls a year between Hayden and Logan! The sidewalk which connected us quickly became a road for scooters and bikes; bridging our boys who often played together. Stephanie (along with other moms) would walk down with her chair and we'd sit in the yard chatting while the boys/kids played.
Quickly after their moving in, the house breathed warmth and their tender care polished up the home. We enjoyed pizza dinners in driveways, coffee mornings, tornado warning hangouts in our basement, kid swamp for doctor's appointments, the hubbies (and others) started a guy's movie night and hours and hours of unplanned play!
So, naturally, when she called to say she was adding an extra day onto her trip to Florida so she could visit, I was thrilled. Once the boys recovered from the disappointment that Adam would not be along, they were excited to see her too. Here they are waving to their friend Adam.
The sidewalk connecting us is a tad longer now, but we're delighted to keep in touch.
