Boosterthon!

Hayden's school is in need of a new Kindergarten playground.  They just held a Boosterthon Fun Run as a fundraiser.  Along with the money the school raised, a grant would match dollar for dollar.  It was really quite an event.  A group of Boosterthon leaders travel from school to school to host the event. They spent the last two weeks (over 300 hours) within the school/classrooms talking about building character, leadership, positive attitude and fitness.
The two weeks commenced today with a fun run at his school.  Cones marked the oval track for them to run.  T-shirts had been given out and on the back were 35 boxes to be checked off after each lap they ran.  Prior to the event, the students were to ask for family/friends to pledge them a certain dollar amount per lap (max of 35 laps).

Ryan took an early lunch to watch the run and held the sign Hayden made the night prior. (It reads, "Hayden is awesome!")  They had music playing and there was a lot of energy on the field.  Hayden is a natural runner and might have inherited my competitive spirit. It was not a race but he sure zoomed around the track.  His endurance was impressive and ultimately, his 35 laps was equivalent to 2.2 miles!

After his class was announced they ran through the tunnel

Since the school got pledges from all 50 states, the vice principal dressed up as Captain America and the principal as Wonder Woman.

Some good luck passed on from little brother

Owen had a blast dancing to the music

Families could walk a lap at the end and Owen didn't hesitate taking advantage of the opportunity.
